Lufthansa is the German national Flag carrier based in Cologne but dominant at Frankfurt International Airport.

Lufthansa is a truly global airline operating to 200 cities in over 100 countries worldwide. Lufthansa is a founder member of the dynamic STAR alliance which sets high common standards of customer service amongst its members. Lufthansa also owns Swiss International Airlines and Air Dolomiti in Italy.

Lufthansa has a fleet of over 340 immaculately maintained aircraft of various types including the latest model Boeings and Airbuses. Lufthansa have a slightly uninspiring livery but at least it is consistent over the fleet.

We like Lufthansa simply because you invariably get what you expect – they may not the friendliest, cheapest, most enjoyable, punctual, flexible, best value, exciting airline (use which term you feel applies to your most recent experience of them) but Lufthansa are consistently above average in delivering the things that matter. (Competitor BA currently fails this test with regard to bags!). Frankfurt airport is Lufthansa’s power base in Europe and love it or hate it (personally I avoid it having been forced to use it too many time in the past) it does allow a better transit experience than many other European hub airports.
