OpenSkies flightsThe British Airways subsidiary, OpenSkies commenced operations in June 2008 with the first flight departing Paris Orly airport bound for New York’s JF Kennedy. This new airline has been created to take advantage of the EU and US open skies agreement and will operate with an 82 seater Boeing 757 aircraft with a three class set up-the usual configuration for this type of aircraft is in the region of 180 seats. The current layout allows for 24 business class, 24 premium economy and 30 economy seats. OpenSkies will take delivery of their second Boeing 757 in the coming months and by the end of 2009 the fleet will have grown to a total of six aircraft. Future deswtinations for the Premium service include Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Milan. Biz class features 24, 6 foot long flat beds, Prem plus has 28 seats with a recline of 140 degrees, thats more than comparable to other Transatlantic Premium Economy offerings, and 30 economy leather clad seats featuring 50 hours of personal audio and video entertainment.
