Virgin Atlantic is a British long haul, scheduled service carrier jointly owned by Richard Branson’s Virgin Group and Singapore airlines.

Virgin Atlantic is the bitter rival of British Airways and has carved out a major position for itself on many of BA’s most profitable ex UK routes by offering a different type of on-board service at similar fares to BA. Their route network keeps expanding currently destinations served from the UK are Nairobi, Cape Town, Johannesburg and Lagos, Mauritius, Sydney, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo; Delhi, Mumbai, Dubai, New York, Washington, Las Vegas, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Orlando, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Antigua, Bridgetown, Havana, Grenada, Montego Bay, Kingston, St Lucia and Tobago.

Upper Class flights on Virgin Atlantic

Probably the best meal I’ve ever had on board an aircraft was in Seat 1(A) in Upper Class on Virgin’s overnight flight from New York to London; the free upgrade from my normal position in economy had been offered at check -in, and I’d had a great sleep before being woken up and offered a hot bacon roll for breakfast.. Sublime ! Virgin isn’t like that every time, but there is a consistent emphasis on making the flight enjoyable and the in-flight entertainment remains amongst the best available on any long haul flight. Virgin may not be the cheapest, but if you want to enjoy the journey and can afford the (little) extra amount,
